India is building a new smart city from scratch to attract foreign investors. The Gujarat International Finance-Tec City or GIFT City is being developed in the country’s western state Gujarat, with hopes that it will rival cities such as Hong Kong and Dubai. The city will have its own financial regulator in an effort to provide regulatory freedom to foreign investors trying to do business in India.
